DAY 63
Saturday June 2nd
Albuquerque NM

Yesterday was dull. I didn't even get to the door of my room. When I awoke I received the news that Sally was on her way so I found a programme on the computer that enabled me to track her flight. It's amazing what you will do for entertainment when times are hard.

After a five hour change over in Minneapolis, which was pretty dull viewing, a little cross started to move again and at ten minutes to twelve, after twenty four hours of travelling, we were together again.

Two months is the longest we have ever been apart, so this reunion was marked with a particularly firm handshake.

This morning has been devoted to sorting out business, so we now have Sal's name on the car insurance and tomorrow we'll be moving to a new location. How I shall miss my home of the last eight days, the downtown Econo Lodge, with stunning views of the I25, with noises to match – especially since Sally insists on having the window open because she doesn't like the air conditioning.

The highlight of the morning was our fifty yard walk to Winston's Diner. This has been my main source of food over the last few days but it was Sal's first experience of a classic American diner. I chose staple American fare while Sal opted for Mexican Eggs and pinto beans. Now you might realise why I am encouraging her to have the air con on.

Sal's final act of mercy to date has been to confiscate my lap top, in fact she is typing this piece as I dictate. This might help explain why there are less long words than usual (he'd better watch out, I can easily get the next flight back – ed.)

A few hours before Sally arrived I received an email from a young woman I had never met, a baseball fanatic who wants to leave her husband and run away with me. Before I could consider this objectively Sal had arrived. I feel a reader's poll coming up (one vote in favour – ed.)
