DAY 192
Tuesday October 9th
Cleveland, OH to Cave City, KY

This particular part of Kentucky evidently has some sort of prehistoric connection; there is a Mammoth Amusement Park just up the road. But I'm just here for a hotel and a steakhouse.

Cleveland's victory last night left Wednesday's game 5 unnecessary. My chances of travelling to Arizona or Colorado are slim, therefore my next baseball commitment is Friday night back in Cleveland.

First time around, I was unable to visit Nashville, without which no musical tour of the States is complete. So I am taking advantage of this four day break to remedy this omission. It's 530 miles from Cleveland, and I managed 420 today, so I should get almost a full day in the city.
First thing this morning, I walked back to the Indians' stadium, to see if there were any big screen tickets being given away yet. No sign of life there, so I leave a message on Pedro's phone and I'm on my way.

The drive is very straightforward; I-71 most of the way. Kentucky in particular is beautiful at this time of year, and the route goes past Churchill Downs, the venue of the Kentucky Derby.

October started today, nine days late, and the temperature is in the mid-sixties at the start of the day. But by the time I reach Kentucky, it's back in the eighties.

And that's it for today; another drive, another motel, another steakhouse. Perhaps there will be a little more novelty tomorrow.
