2009 day 31 – Tuesday April 28th
Wichita, Kansas to Kansas City, Missouri
Another cold day, with the temperature in the mid-forties, as I leave Wichita. I have packed largely for warm weather, so I am a little underdressed to put it mildly.
The trip is winding down now. My goal was achieved on Saturday, and I have extended my stay to visit a friend in St. Louis. I will fly home from there on Friday. My plans have had to change slightly, so instead of a long drive to St. Louis today, I am stopping off in Kansas City.
The drive is my first experience this trip of a toll road which, once I am on it, severely limits the breakfast options. So by the time I find an appropriate truck stop, it is nearer lunchtime. But I am rewarded with the classic lunch buffet – fried chicken, mash, salad, and a taste of anything else that looks interesting.
